Finally Friday

I was starting to think today wouldn’t come. It’s been a long, busy week. Even my husband said after work that he felt like he barely saw me this week. My meetings nearly every day started at 7 am and at the end of my day, I was too exhausted to talk.

Today I felt a little better in the insanity. I took Gracie Mae for a walk. We took our time in the chilly air to soak it up. GMae teaches me to slow down. She wants to stop at every mailbox, and every flower to sniff. I get so rushed in my busy day that I feel I’m rushing her along and making her hurry.

Today I let her sniff. In a walk that should have only last 10 minutes, took nearly a half hour. And the sun even started to shine.

GMae and I enjoyed many daffodils. We stopped at 23 mailboxes, and each of them carried a different scent.

Then there were trees to sniff, too, because they are there.

Why is life so freakin’ fast that we have to rush? Why are meetings so pressing and work so stressful that we feel everything should have been done weeks ago? These are rhetorical questions. If any of you work in corporate life, then you get it. IYKYK.

Dogs truly are angels on earth. I learned a lot from GMae today. When I would start to rush her, she just stood and wouldn’t move. So I stopped and waited until she was ready to go. Slow the fbomb down, even when you feel it’s easier said than done.

I know I cannot always take these kinds of walks every day, but I’m so thankful my sweet baby girl taught me it was okay to just slow down today.

Not every day should be in a dead rush.

At least not today. It’s finally Friday!

Peace out, Trouts.
